I was born in Dehradun, a picturesque town in north-west India in the foothills of the Himalayas and nestled between two of the country’s mightiest rivers – the Ganges to the east and the Yamuna to the west.
I went to hotel school and ended up becoming a chef, which enabled me to travel all over the country working for different hotels, restaurants and tasting some fantastic food all over. I always wanted to learn more and more about different cuisines, experience different cultures and more over just travel. To fulfill this dream I came to London. I wanted to work with some of the finest chefs. I worked with few and met so many who inspired all the while I was studying and working.
Cooking was all I could do and could not imagine doing anything better than that, until my fate intervened and I had to swap my chef whites for a camera. I had a successful career ahead of me but some serious health issues forced me to reconsider my career options. Thankfully I enjoy good health and have turned to my other creative love, food photography, where I’ve had a chance to work with some of the finest chef’s in the country.
I have just not limited myself to food photography. I also photograph events and weddings and sometimes portraits. Some of my work can be seen on my blog http://nitinkapoor.co.uk/
